How we earn

Advertising Disclosure

Our college discovery, planning tools, and Compass newsletter are free. Commercial relationships are disclosed and kept separate from college data and editorial judgment.

Potential compensation

We may receive compensation when a visitor clicks a labeled partner link, completes a qualifying action, or obtains a product from a participating provider. Compensation may use referral identifiers or campaign parameters so the partner can attribute the visit.

Newsletter sponsorships

A Compass issue or section may include a sponsor, paid placement, or affiliate link. We label paid material in plain language near the recommendation. Sponsors do not receive subscriber email addresses from us simply because they sponsor an issue.

What compensation does not change

Payment does not change federal college data, create a better college ranking, or guarantee favorable placement in independent educational content. We do not claim that a partner is the best option for every user.

Financing context

Private student loans are not a substitute for scholarships, grants, institutional aid, federal student aid, lower-cost school choices, payment plans, or informed budgeting. Eligibility, rates, terms, and protections vary. Review official disclosures and compare options before committing.

How links are labeled

Commercial calls to action include nearby disclosure language and may be technically marked as sponsored. General links to colleges and government sources are not paid unless clearly stated.

Future partnerships

As partnerships are added, this page and the relevant offer experience will identify material relationships. Questions may be sent to partnerships@thecollegepros.org.
