The College ProsChoose with confidence

Editorial independence

Editorial Policy

Useful college guidance depends on clear sources, honest limitations, and a firm boundary between facts and commercial relationships.

Last updated September 1, 2026

Our principles

We prioritize accuracy, clarity, practical usefulness, and fair context. We do not publish paid college rankings or allow compensation to change a school’s data, order, or evaluation.

Sources

College profiles identify their primary source. The current dataset comes from the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard. Newsletter and guide claims prioritize government agencies, official institution pages, original datasets, and other authoritative sources. For current deadlines, program details, and individual prices, we direct families to the institution.

Review and correction

Data-driven pages are generated from a documented release and checked for missing or implausible values. Editorial claims should distinguish facts from interpretation. Time-sensitive details are verified before publication. Correction requests may be sent to corrections@thecollegepros.org with the page, disputed statement, and authoritative source.

Use of automation

Automation may assist with formatting, data transformation, personalization, or quality checks. Material educational claims remain subject to source review. We do not fabricate quotes, student experiences, or institutional facts.

Commercial separation

Sponsored newsletter material and affiliate links are labeled near the relevant message. Partner eligibility and compensation may inform which clearly labeled offers are available after a user chooses to explore them, but they do not control our college profiles, methodology, independent articles, or educational conclusions.
